Holiday Stories

22 Wishes - Texas Family (2022 Mission) - A note from the Mom - I moved to Texas a year ago from another state. Since moving here, my two main paths for mine and my child’s life have abruptly not worked out. I have a child with special needs and currently don’t have care for him that is dependable. It’s been like playing Jenga to find balance and meet our needs. The goal was to have a more stable and productive life here. The holiday season has been more of a sad season this year. It was very uplifting to be offered a Christmas blessing from Pier 22 Fishing. We were given gifts that brought a lot of happiness and some security. I’ve had a loss of job due to challenges around my child’s special needs recently, so the gifts that helped me contribute towards bills were so appreciated. The gifts were loved by my child, and I got some things that I wouldn’t normally do for myself, so it was nice. I appreciate the Christmas blessing from Pier 22 Fishing. We wouldn’t have been able to celebrate the holiday otherwise. -A.N.

22 Wishes - Texas and Minnesota Chapters (2022 Mission) - Not only were we able to help 2 families this year for 22 Wishes Mission, we were also able to use some of the donation money for Toys for Tots and for Cross charities. These donations and charities helped to deliver toys, food, clothes and most certainly Holiday Cheer amongst many families with in the communities. With us opening a new chapter in Texas we are able to extend our outreach to more communities and we look forward to having a broader reach in future years Missions. Thank you all for the donations to help make this possible!

22 Wishes - Minnesota Family (2022 Mission) - Losing a child is one of the most tragic events in the world. In March of 2022, that unfortunate event happened for a family of 5 from Crystal, Minnesota. Caleb, the son of Jeremy and Rayna passed away from brain cancer, at the age of 12. Caleb fought the cancer with everything he had, with his family and friends by his side until his last days on this earth, but ultimately the cancer took him on March 24th, 2022. Caleb’s family was devastated, emotionally drained and left to pick-up the pieces from their loss. This years 22 Wishes Mission, was to help them find some joy in the Holidays, help lessen the financial impact and let them know that Pier22 Fishing is here to support them! Caleb will be remembered as a brave, fun loving boy, who liked video games and loved his family and friends. Gone to soon, but never forgotten!

Moving forward each year, one of Pier22 Fishing’s, 22 Wishes Grants will be named after Caleb and will be given in honor of his life and his fight with brain cancer.

Rest In Peace - Caleb (Bubba)

22 Wishes - Minnesota Family (2021 Mission) - During the 2021 Holiday Season, our mission was to raise funds and collect toys to help a Family in need. The Family we chose had gone through some tragic events leading into the 2021 Holiday Season, with the loss of a Husband, Son, Father and Iraq War Veteran, due to suicide.

This loss left the Family to suffer immeasurably, during a time that would normally be for family and celebrating. Instead they were left to pick-up the pieces of such a tragic loss, leaving Mom to raise two young kids (2yrs & 6yrs old) and cope with the death and mental health issues that come with suicide. Not to mention the financial aspects of such a catastrophic event.

We were honored to be help to drive this mission and gather, toys, clothes, gift cards and monetary donations to help this Family in need. The loss of a Father and Husband is never easy and it was our mission to make things a bit brighter. This one hit extra close to home for co-founder Jerry Osowski and he personally delivered the Holiday cheer himself, driving up north during a snow storm to make sure Pier22 Fishing delivered the Wish prior to Christmas.
